An HBO documentary about electronic voting machines is on Google Video. Worth a watch.
Some interesting bits:
According to Cliff Arnebeck, an elections attorney present during the conference call, John Kerry told Jesse Jackson on election night 2004, after he had already conceded, that in New Mexico, votes that were counted with optical scan readers, regardless [...]
I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a cross-platform video conferencing solution that works as well as iChat on the Mac. I love iChat. My mom can figure it out.
I’ve tried to find something that works cross-platform so I could chat with friends on pcs. There are some solutions that are capable, but they [...]
This should be appended to the definition of ridiculous.
I just signed up for some kind of webinar from Microsoft about Exchange Server. After entering all my information and pressing “Continue” only to have it predictably lose all my information and make me enter it all over again (so 1995), I press continue once [...]
If you have some time to kill check out fastr, a flickr game. It pulls up 10 pictures from flickr sequentially and you have guess what tag it’s using before the other people on the web page. A bit addictive..
Google Earth is available for Mac now. And it’s not beta. Go figure.
Since I don’t have a TV, most of the video I watch comes from the internet. A lot of it is really interesting stuff, stuff they would never put on anything mainstream. So I was trying to figure out a way to share these videos I found with friends. I wanted to make an RSS [...]
I’m testing out new this web browser called Flock that lets you post to your blog from within the browser. It’s pretty nice. It syncs with my del.icio.us links and has some kind of flickr option too that I haven’t figured out yet. Looks pretty nice. It’s uber-beta now I guess, but it runs pretty [...]
I ran across this new site called Vizu that’s all about creating polls. It’s very Web 2.0 with a bunch of Ajax submitting, RSS feeds of lots of useful information, and an easy copy/paste iframe to post the poll to your blog. If you sign up it makes anonymous use of your demographic information [...]
After migrating my home server from Red Hat to Gentoo, I was hoping I could just copy over my Apache config file and turn it on. After sorting out a few Gentoo specifics, I got Apache to load by virtual host file. As I feared, something was funky with my Red Had Apache installation, so [...]
As I install Gentoo, I came across and interesting comparison of Linux distributions.
Can somebody please make a NextBus dashboard widget?
A review of Mac OS 10.4 - Tiger a week after release.
This started off as a comment about TextMate’s somewhat nebulous features but I figured I needed to write about some of the software I like to use on the Mac.
I just downloaded Skype. It’s free to talk over the internet, and it lets you make phone calls to regular phones for 1.5 cents/ming. You pay as you go, €10 increments.
