On one hand I think it’s great that Geraldine Ferraro made those comments so we can see how people and the candidates react. It also helps us all process the issue and collectively move in some direction.
I can’t seem to find a quote anywhere but I think at some point she said she knows that the only reason she was a vice-presidential candidate was because she was a woman. I think we all knew that, which is probably had a good deal to do with why she never made it to vice-president. After her comments, I’m kinda glad she didn’t make it.
“I was talking about historic candidacies and what I started off by saying (was that) if you go back to 1984 and look at my historic candidacy, which I had just talked about all these things, in 1984 if my name was Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would have never been chosen as a vice presidential candidate,” Ferraro said.” “It had nothing to do with my qualification.”
