The Wedding

Posted on Saturday 25 August 2007

This is my last day in Ko Samui. Everyone is left or leaving today. My ferry to Ko Tao leaves in a few hours.

The wedding was the night before last. It was definitely the most over the top wedding I’ve been to. The wedding couple arrived on an elephant surrounded by traditional Thai dancers and drummers, followed by a traditional budhist ceremony involving chanting monks and monk gift-baskets. It turns out this is the first gay wedding on Ko Samui. There was a huge fireworks display at the end. All the family and friends jelled really well together and it made for a really great night. I didn’t take any pictures cause there were two professional photographers and a video crew so I figured the had it covered.

The wifi at this resort works intermittently so I freqently have a hard time actually posting or sending after I’ve written something. Also I can only post pictures from my iPhone so the ones on my camera will have to wait till I get back.

Not sure what I’m doing after I get my diving certification done. Probably head to another island and use my new skills to so some more diving. Will said they might go to Ko Samet, so I might meet up with them there. Bangkok is a little crazy, not sure that I want to spend a ton of time there. Although Will tells me there’s a weekend market that I simply have to go to, but I’m afraid I’ll end up with a tin of interesting junk.

Ok, enough for now. Maybe I’ll write more on the ferry if I don’t find anyone to chat with. I’ll post a few more crappy pictures to flickr too.
