Good Comparison of Linux Distributions

Posted on Sunday 19 June 2005

My server is spending another day chugging away at compiling 156 different software packages today (it’s on #46 now). My friend Will talked me into installing Gentoo on it. I like it so far, I’m learning a whole lot about how the operating system is put together. I ran across a good comparison of linux distributions on slashdot this morning. I’m curious about Ubuntu, and there were a few mentioned in the comments that sounded interesting too. But I think I might give OpenSolaris a whirl next. It may be way overkill for a home server, but I’m curious to see how it works.
